What ever the season you will find lots of fun in the Clark County Parks. Hike through our great parks. Grab a fishing pole and enjoy the great fishing at Hosterman Lake located in George Rogers Clark Park, or get out with your family and get some exercise on the miles of paved shared use trails through out the county. Or volunteer in the parks by contacting us!
The History of the Park District
The park district was formed on July 27th, 1977 by Probate Judge Lewis W. Digel after a hearing, and is run under Section 1545.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. The Clark County Probate Judge appoints the commissioners to the board. The district owns George Rogers Clark Historic Park, Estel Wenrick Wetlands, The Little Miami Scenic Trail, The Prairie Grass Trail and other properties around Clark County.
Mission Statement
The Clark County Park District is a governmental agency whose mission is to promote stewardship of the natural resources within Clark County through acquisition, preservation, developmental, and operation of public parks; through the development of programs for education, use, and enjoyment by the general public; and through cooperative arrangements with organizations and agencies within Clark County.
Guiding Principals
Priority will be placed on special purpose park facilities such as those with unique ecological, environmental, or historical value. Acquisition, preservation, development, or operation of a facility will be considered after determining the value to Clark County, the feasibility of operation, and the availability of resources. The Park District may develop revenue earning facilities and programs that are partially or fully self-supporting if such facilities and programs are consistent with the mission and goals of the Park District.
